Angling Pro, Joe Lewis, lands an 8.5 ft, 300 pound Sturgeon

In October of 2007, Joe headed out for a day of white sturgeon fishing on the lower Fraser river.
Using a Trophy XL custom series 8' Sturgeon King (TCS580MC) rod and a Peel 230 GTO reel loaded with Western filament tuff line XP (100lb green), Joe chose a large 16 oz wedge weight attached to a large line slider with Macks Lure red 4mm beads, black Mustad barrel swivel size 1 (120 lb), Western filament braided nylon sturgeon leaders (72lb) and a 9/0 Gamagatsu barbless octopus hook.
Moments later, it felt like he'd snagged a hostile nuclear submarine, and the fight was on. As Joe fought the fish, crowds began to form along the river banks to watch. Amid cheers from the crowd and rain from above, Joe fought the underwater giant to a successful landing. He was quickly swarmed by people wanting photos, business cards and advice.
